2013 Audi R8 became the second German car that landed in Indian market and interestingly the first launch (Audi Q5) was also from the same manufacturer.. The updated Audi R8 is available in Indian market in three variants, Audi R8 V8 Coupe, Audi R8 V10 Coupe and Audi R8 V10 Convertible. The 2013 Audi R8 series price starts at Rs.1.34 Crore (Audi R8 V8 Coupe), the convertible variant is priced at Rs.1.73 Cr. The Audi R8 V10 Coupe has been priced at Rs.1.57 Cr (all prices are ex-showroom New Delhi).
“First month of 2013 already saw the launch of new Audi Q5 and I am confident that with the launch of this new Audi R8, we will further consolidate our leadership position in the super sports car segment in India,” said Mr. Michael Perschke, Head – Audi India at the venue of the launch.
2013 Audi R8 is available in two engine options – 4.2 ltr V8 engine and 5.2 ltr V10 engine. The new Audi R8 is lighter compared to it’s predecessor, thanks to it’s all aluminium space frame. The lighter body houses a V8/V10 engine mated to an all new 7 speed S tronic dual clutch gearbox. The earlier versions of Audi R8 was equipped with a single clutch six speed R-tronic gear box. The engine and gearbox combo ensures the 0-100 kmph speed reaches in less than 4 seconds. The 2013 Audi R8 can clock a top speed of 317 Kmph.
Along the key mechanical changes, 2013 Audi R8 has received a minor exteriors and interiors changes as well. The front end has been restyled with a new single frame grille and bumper. In the interiors new Audi R8 comes with leather wrappings and a set of new badges.
In 2012, Audi India managed to sell just over 9000 vehicles and emerged as one of the leading brand in Indian luxury car segment. This year, Audi India plans to sell 10,500-10,800 units and company is in the process of expanding dealership presence in tier-2 cities.
The recently launched Audi Q5 has already received 250+ bookings in two weeks and company is all set to launch Audi S6 in second quarter.
