While Skoda is very cautious about revealing details about 2013 Skoda Octavia, an eagle eyed reader of Carscoop managed to click an undisguised car in Chile. The new Skoda Octavia aka Laura in India is all set make it’s official appearance very soon. As we said earlier, 2013 Skoda Octavia is built on VW family’s MQB platform that means it will be sharing platform with Audi A3, VV Golf and Seat Leon. The new Octavia is bigger compared to current generation car but Skoda managed to keep it light. The styling of new Octavia is influenced by Skoda VisionD concept which was previewed last year in last year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The 2013 Skoda Octavia looks fresh in style, the typical Skoda front grille has been replaced with an all new front grille. The front grille is now comes with more corners, the headlights pair has some resemblance with VW Jetta headlights. In the rear, again the 2013 Skoda Octavia comes with typical Czechoslovakian design language, the tail lamps are simple in design like all other Skoda products. Somehow the rear light design reminds us the previous generation Audi A6 tail lamps. The waistline of new Skoda Octavia is elevated in comparison with the outgoing model.
2013 Skoda Octavia will get both petrol and diesel engine variants during the debut. A CNG powered Skoda Octavia may also join the band at a later stage. The petrol variants will get a 1.4-litre TSI engine and 1.2-litre TSI engine. The first engine will produce 138 horses on peak while later is capable to bring 105horses on demand. The diesel variants may get 1.6ltr TDI (104hp) and a 2.0ltr TDI (148hp) engine. Both the engines will be available in combination with manual and dual clutch DSG transmissions.
The new Skoda Octavia measures 4659 mm (length) and 1814 mm (width) and its wheelbase measures 2,686 mm. The new Octavia’s trunk is huge and can gulp approximately 590ltrs.
Now about it’s Indian debut, 2013 Skoda Octavia may hit Indian market by mid of next year. But the development is yet to be confirmed by Skoda India. We will keep you posted about the developments in due course, so stay tuned.
