BMW are the best luxury brand but recent resurgence of the three pointed star means that BMW need to do more to retain their No1 spot. In India however, the story is different. Mercedes has outsold BMW in the first seven months of 2010 thanks to their new model launches and popularity of the E-class range. In essence, the new launches from BMW will help fight their traditional rivals Audi and Mercedes Benz in the next four years. There is hardly a segment where BMW will not have a presence.

Second half 2012 – 3-Series Sedan and Touring, new M6 Coupe and Convertible
2013 – New 3-Series Convertible, 3-Series GT, Smaller roadster under Z4 (Z2?), Megacity range of vehicles, Electric Supercar
Well looking at the list, there isn’t much for India but look closely. The new X3 will reach India either by the end of this year or early 2011 and the new 6-Series range will come as CBUs once they are launched internationally. The Grancoupe will be important for BMW as it will compete with the A7 and CLS in India. The most important model will be the new 3-Series that is expected in 2012. It is BMW’s bread and butter model and forms the core of BMWs sales in India. A lot is expected of the new 3-Series, the coupe and convertible version of which could make it to India as well. However, BMWs Megacity range of vehicles are not expected in India. There are some more models in the pipeline and BMW wants to surprise us with them.
