Less than ten days ago we told you about Hyosung launching the GT250R(Finally!) along with its new partner DSK, after bidding adieu to its previous partner Garware. Given the fact that S&T Motors and DSK Motowheels joined hands less than a week before launch of the bike, the partnership is sure to go a long way in to the future.
And the surest indication of this, is the fact that the GT 250R has crossed over 100 bookings in less than a week. In spite of the steep price tag of Rs. 2.75 lakhs, the bike has managed to rope in a lot of buyers. As of now the bike is imported via CKD means (which means heavy taxes and duty) and is assembled at the company’s plant in Wai near Pune. The premium is however sure to go down as the company has set ambitious targets with regards to the localization. The MD, DSK Motowheels, Mr. Shirish Kulkarni has promised over 90% localization within a matter of 18 months and a reduced price of Rs. 1.5 lakhs eventually.
The most important factor for this is the location of the new plant. The management is looking for industrial land between the Mumbai Pune area. However Gujarat with its open arms is also a likely contender. With good looking numbers like 28PS, 22Nm and 5 speed gearbox and head turning looks the bike is definitely a worthy contender in its class. However a slashed price tag is more than welcome!
