“With more and more cars on the road as well as frequent stop-and-go traffic, India has been seeing an increase in demand for automatic sedans in recent years. However, despite the growing interest for these cars, petrol automatic vehicles are still limited to a 6% share in the premium sedan segment because they deliver lower mileage and higher cost of ownership,” said Marc NASSIF, Managing Director – Renault India.

“The Scala X-tronic CVT aims to bridge this gap by offering class-leading fuel efficiency, reliability and performance. With the next-generation X-tronic transmission, customers will be able to experience a new technological benchmark in automatic transmission which offers a smoother ride, convenience and savings, making the Scala CVT an attractive choice for those opting for an automatic premium sedan,” he further added.

There is no visual change in the Renault Scala Automatic except the miniscule “CVT” decal on the boot lid.

Scala Automatic is available in two trim levels, Renault Scala – RXL X-tronic CVT and Renault Scala – RXZ X-tronic CVT. The prices are  Rs.8,99,000 and Rs. 9,89,000 respectively (ex show room New Delhi).

Renault India claims, Scala Automatic comes with 17.97 kpl fuel economy. The fuel efficiency of Renault Scala Automatic  is superior to the manual transmission variant. The safety features like ABS, EBD and Dual Air Bags are standard features in both the variants. Other features as similar to corresponding manual variant.

Renault and Nissan are engaged in badge engineering and last year we saw Renault badged Nissan Micra as Renault Pulse and Nissan Sunny as Renault Scala. By third quarter of this year we can see Nissan badged Renault Duster.

With the launch of Renault Scala Automatic, sedan buyers who are considering Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Skoda Rapid and VW Vento automatics gets a new choice.
